To combat period poverty in her local community, Jennifer needs:

Did you know that nearly a quarter of Ugandan girls between the ages of 12 and 18 drop out of school when they begin menstruation according to the MHD2023?

Jennifer who was forced to flee from South Sudan due to the ongoing conflict in the country is fighting period poverty in Bidibidi Refugee Settlement in Uganda where she currently lives. Jennifer wanted to help her family financially so she came up with her genious business idea: making reusable sanitary pads. 

Jennifer has experienced period poverty herself since there was a huge demand for period pads in the refugee settlement and her experiences with this struggle made her eager to start a business producing sustainable, reusable sanitary pads she makes herself, as well as donating some of her products to the women who can't afford period products. Jennifer is committed to raise awareness about period poverty and menstrual hygiene, hoping she can help the future generations combat the shortage of proper period products, giving young girls the chance to continue their education once they start their menstruation and setting them free from the burden of not being able to find enough sanitary products .
